This session was moderated by Arpita Bedekar, Director – Strategy & Planning and the speaker of this session was Debmalya Maitra, Senior Director – Banking, Financial Services & Insurance, Chokshi Group.

The Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India (IRDAI) issued the consolidated and updated master guidelines on AML/CFT on 1st August 2022. The guidelines, applicable to life, general as well as health insurers come into force from 1st January 2023. The new guidelines have a bearing on various aspects of the AML compliance function including process flows, training, and third party relationships in insurance companies.

This workshop aimed to set a global context to AML regulation in insurance, break down the IRDAI guidelines, and help insurance companies to understand the spirit behind the regulator’s expectations.
